Vincent Bishop’s “Out of the Dark” is a journey through and out of difficult times and emotions, largely inspired by the author’s passage through teenage years. The album is primarily for a late teen and young adult audience, but is likely to attract some older listeners because of the maturity of some of the emotional content. It could also potentially attract a younger teen audience as an introduction to the early phases of “growing up.” The album is composed through various influences of genres, such as folk, reggae, rock, hip-hop and jazz all fusing into pop. This project involved 20 musicians, including himself. Several songs in this album are complex and required intensive hours of mixing in order to showcase Vincent’s arrangements.
